Donor Bill of Rights
All donors have the following rights:
I To be informed of the organisation’s mission, of the way the organisation intends to use donated resources and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
II To be informed of the identity of those serving on the organisation’s governing board and to expect the board to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
III To have access to the organisation’s most recent financial statements.
IV To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.

The Southern Africa Institute of Fundraising Codes of Fundraising Best Practice represents the ideal standards and guidelines for fundraisers in South Africa. Fundraising is a noble profession and its standards and ethics can only be upheld by those who believe in professionalism; therefore, it is a self-regulatory environment abiding and complying to its own code of professional ethics and overarching legislation within the Non-Profit Act of 1997 and the Public Benefit Organisation Act of the South African Revenue Services.
