GREED of Jacqueline Marohanye, principal of Ithuteng Trust in Klipspruit, Soweto

The Institute congratulates Carte Blanche on its exposé of 'alleged' GREED at the hands of Jacqueline Maarohanye, principal of Ithuteng Trust in Klipspruit, Soweto in their programme on M-Net Sunday 19 November 2006.

Honest fundraisers are working to generate support and respect for this country, but not only has she exploited the donors; she has exploited the very children she was entrusted to care for and that is despicable.

The acts committed by Mama Jackie will have destroyed donor confidence in South Africa.  She has done irreparable harm to fundraising.  It is hard enough to get foreign donors to invest in South African projects, because of the perceived climate of fraud and corruption, and now this high profile figure has shown the rest of the world that their fears are correct.  The people are corrupt!

We hope that we can restore the confidence of both local and foreign donors in fundraisers.  Those who are members of SAIF adhere to a strict Code of Ethics and you can check their membership by contacting the office of the Institute on tel:  011 794 5224.

SAIF is the professional body for fundraising practitioners. It is a member-based organisation with branches in main regional centres. The Institute was founded in 1985 to promote the highest ethical and professional standards of fundraising practice and is the only body representing and supporting the fundraising profession in Southern Africa.

It is the vision of this Institute that all persons employed in the fundraising profession should be registered with SAIF and that such membership should be respected by all stakeholders in charitable endeavour.

This website is aimed at providing a wide range of  supporting information and opportunities to both Members and the greater non-profit community and should visitors have input that would be of general interest to members they are invited to contact the SAIF National Office.
